Ash-Sham CARE was founded in November 2011 as a private initiative by a group of concerned people especially worried about the appalling humanitarian situation in Syria. In March 2013 Ash-Sham CARE was officially registered as Non-Profit-Organization in the Swiss Commercial Register (SHAB): CH-020.6.001.722-2.
Under the name «Ash-Sham CARE Organization for Emergency Interventions and Rehabilitation Operations» (abbreviated to Ash-Sham CARE) there exists, as defined in Art. 60ff. of the Swiss Civil Code, a Non-Profit making association headquartered in Zurich/Switzerland (with Offices in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon). The Objective and Purpose of Ash-Sham CARE are Humanitarian Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation; Coordination and Organization of Emergency Food Security & Livelihood; Action for Development, Health & Education; Reconstruction of Infrastructure & Return and Assistance of/for Refugees; Economic, Political and Social Development.
For this Mission Ash-Sham CARE collect funds for projects. Ash-Sham CARE safeguards compliance with the humanitarian principles of neutrality, humanity, impartiality and independence. Ash-Sham CARE is a non-political and non-military Association. Ash-Sham CARE is cooperating with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), local stakeholders and NGOs.
With a focus on Children in Situations of Emergency and Crisis Ash-Sham CARE is guided by the provisions and principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC) and the EU Guidelines for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of the Child, adopted by the Council in December 2007.
Ash-Sham CARE takes action for the protection of female victims of human rights violations (especially Rape and sexual violence) and for the prevention of such violations. Ash-Sham CARE works on the coordination of adherence to international standards of humanitarian assistance to give women and girls the ability to access services. Ash-Sham CARE also attaches great importance to the equality of payment for men and women. For services of Ash-Sham CARE in Switzerland and abroad and/or in cooperation or partnerships with other Organizations all core conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO) have to be followed.
Ash-Sham CARE's activities adhere to the principle of sustainable development, as economic development, social development, and environmental protection and will be characterized by holistic thinking and responsible action in all matters of Economics, Ecology, Culture and Politics. Ash-Sham CARE attaches great importance to communicating its views on sustainability, the environment and especially the climate.
